We have tried this:

During intro trombone, all kneel &/ stay far behind &/ away from soloist

For section A the trombones and mid-brass stand and move in behind the soloist

For section B the trumpets stand and move in to the central area, others allow them to be main feature

For section C non-trumpet high brass stand and step forward as central (others can step aside, maybe even kneel)

For the outtro all but the soloist kneels back down
