Local Fifers

Rude Bridge

2 tunes for the price of one! (Free!)

Two local fife tunes from the Revolutionary War.

"Road to Boston" was a favorite marching tune of the ad hoc New England army, and its successor the Continental Army. It's now the Official Ceremonial March of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

According to an ear-witness report, the Acton Minutemen's fifer Luther Blanchard was playing "The White Cockade" as they marched to the Battle of Concord at the North Bridge, at the start of the war. Blanchard was wounded by the first British volley, and died later that year.
