Edelweiss
EdelweissRude BridgeLike an oom-pah brass-band tune (but it's a waltz, so it's oom-pah-pah). Melody, bass "oom" part, and backing "pah-pah" parts are shown on all the charts. Also chord symbols. It's good to have at least one low-pitch instrument on the bass part, and two mid-range instruments on the backing parts. Everyone else can play the melody, accompaniment parts, or improvised harmony/countermelody.
The last four bars can be used as an optional intro. Or the accomaniment parts can vamp on the first bar as an intro.
This version should be uptempo, appropriate for a Biergarten or a Harvard Square Oktoberfest. Not like the original, which is a slow ballad with guitar.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_g-HAO8F...Not really an Austrian song; it's from the Broadway musical "The Sound of Music." The fictionalized Captain von Trapp sings it to symbolize his defiance of the Third Reich.
The last Oscar Hammerstein lyric (and the last Rodgers & Hammerstein song).
