How to be the Planner (for a Practice)
Create setlist
Use setlist poll tool at ChartOTron (purpleblue login)
- Assign due date (say, 2 tp 3 days prior)
OR ... If gig coming up soon, ask gig coordinator for practice setlist (or use gig's planned setlist)
OR ... Handpick curate the list yourself, or ask bandmates to put it together
Create GigO event
Include link to the setlist poll (noting its deadline)
Or include setlist if will not be by poll
Confirm GigO event (or cancel it, if needed due to weather)
Confirm as soon as a critical mass is green; and no later than 2 days prior
If setlist poll, remind people (with the link) to respond
IF NEEDED DUE TO WEATHER:
Cancel or confirm no later than morning of practice
Decide day of week (generally unneeded)
Issues to consider:
- If recent pattern is, say, each Tues, then do Tues
- Monday less good after gig on Sat or Sun
- Fridays not ideal (personal conflicts)
- If no weeknight good, Sat or Sun are options
- (for winter) Do we have Spontaneous reserved?
- A poll may be useful but is not required
- Doodle, Google Surveys, Kirk's QuickPoll
Decide location (generally unneeded)
Issues to consider:
- Non winter default: Stony Brook plaza
- Winter default is Spontaneous
- Consider Pinebank Promontory (good weather)
- Bad weather?
- Arrange Spontaneous or other indoor site
- Ask for help with this, if you need it!
